6 Week Day Gratitude Challenge

I am so happy you decided to take on this incredible 6 week challenge with me because not only is your life about to change for the better, but also those around you!

I want to start by asking you— “How often do you reflect on the good things in life?” You may have to take a moment to think about that.

Paying attention to what we feel grateful for helps get us in a positive mind set, even after hardships. It connects us to the world around us and to ourselves. Research demonstrates that focusing on what we are grateful for is a universally rewarding way to feel happier and more fulfilled. Of course this does not mean that we ignore our emotions that need to be felt, but it helps us to step back and take a larger perspective on things instead of getting wrapped up in the negative.

We have all had our lives turned upside down this year and are trying to navigate this new “normal”. I hope that over the next 6 weeks, you begin to make gratitude a habit and start to see things in a different way. Remember that it is very similar to working out or learning anything new, in that the more you practice, the better you will get and the easier it will be to feel grateful when you need it the most.

Before getting started—What exactly is gratitude?

Well,  Gratitude is your appreciation of what you currently have. When you practice gratitude, you don’t worry about the things you lack.

To sum it all up in short—gratitude is the ability to recognize the goodness in your life.

Brene Brown is someone you may be familiar with and I am going to share a lot of her research with you, because she has made some incredible findings on the power of gratitude. One of my favorite quotes from her is, “There is no joy without gratitude”—This is powerful. She actually found that people who practiced gratitude I will be sharing videos each week from her and I HIGHLY recommend her special on Netflix.

Gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps us feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve our health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.

I made this infographic to help you visualize some of the scientific benefits of gratitude and how practicing gratitude will not only help you mentally, but also physically.
