3 Tips for Back to School Success

The start of a new school year is an exciting time, but it can also bring up mixed emotions for parents. On one hand, we're thrilled to see our children learn and grow, but on the other, we're sad to see them grow up so quickly and anxious about the challenges they'll face. It's important to stay organized and maintain open communication with our kids' teachers to ensure a successful school year. With a little preparation and a positive attitude, we can tackle any challenges that come our way. Here are three things I do to get our family feeling ready for the school year ahead.

For me, back to school shopping is an important aspect for the new school year. I like to make a list of the essential items my kiddos will need, such as backpacks, lunch boxes, and new clothes. I know that you can buy the school supply bundles through the school, but I have the best memories of my mom going school supply shopping so I print their lists online and keep the tradition going. They enjoy being involved when choosing some of their own supplies to add a personal touch. Shopping early and taking advantage of sales can help save money and avoid crowds. Plus, it's a great opportunity to bond with my children and get them excited about the upcoming school year.

I have learned how important it is to stay organized during the school year. One tool that I have found extremely helpful is a dry-erase calendar board. With this board, I am able to keep track of important dates such as parent-teacher conferences, school events, and after-school activities. I like to color code the events on the board to make it easy to see at a glance what is coming up. It is also a great visual for the kiddos to see daily so they have or need for the day. It's a simple yet effective tool that has helped me keep my family on track and make the most of our time together.

Lastly, maintaining open communication with my kids' teachers is also crucial for a successful school year. I introduce myself early on in the year, periodically check in to see how my children are doing in class, attend parent-teacher conferences, and stay informed about any important school news or policy changes.

As summer winds down, I want to make sure to spend quality time with my kids, whether it's taking a weekend trip or simply having a movie night at home. It's important to cherish these moments before the hustle and bustle of the school year begins. With a little preparation and communication, I'm confident that we can overcome any challenges that come our way. While back-to-school season can be stressful at times, I am trying to approach it with a positive attitude and focus on being ahead of the game, getting my supplies, making schedules, and maintaining open communication with their teachers.

Cheers mamas.
